HHS to present spring musical ‘Tuck Everlasting’

Following a comedic production last year, Hampton High School's spring musical, "Tuck Everlasting," takes a different direction with a timeless and emotional story.

"Tuck Everlasting is a beautiful story, in a very different direction from last year's production," says musical director Mr. Dan Franklin. "We didn’t want to do another comedy after Something Rotten, and we wanted to showcase the versatility of our students."

All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 12 & 13 and April 19 & 20 in the Hampton High School auditorium. The building is located at 2929 McCully Rd, Allison Park. Tickets are $12. To purchase tickets, please visit www.hamptoncats.org/tickets

Tuck Everlasting is based on the novel of the same name by Natalie Babbitt. It tells the story of a family who drink water from a magical spring and become immortal. When they encounter a young girl, Winnie Foster, who lives in their rural New England town, she becomes friends with one of the sons, Jesse Tuck, who soon offers her the secret to everlasting life. She then has to decide if she wants to join her new friends in immortality, or if she will live out her normal life.

“It’s just a really pretty show,” said Franklin. “The musical is beautiful, and there are some incredibly emotional moments. Overall, it raises the interesting question of: If this opportunity was given to you, would you do it?”

Senior Andrew Kaehly takes on the role of Jesse Tuck, while freshman Lordyn Schomaeker portrays Winnie Foster. Isaac Thatcher plays Miles Tuck, Jesse's brother, and Kaitlin Howe and Nathan Connelly portray the parents, Mae and Angus Tuck, respectively.

“They’ve been working extremely hard,” said Franklin. “It’s another show where there’s a wonderful balance between the acting, singing, and dancing. You can tell our students are putting in their all.”

Nearly 100 students are involved in this year’s production between the cast, crew, and orchestra.
